The top of the Dodgers order struggled against the Yankees, but they were back against the Rangers thanks in part to a three-run homer from catcher Will Smith.

Shohei Ohtani drew a one-out walk, then Freddie Freeman singled to bring up Smith with two on and one out. Smith, who hadn't homered since belting two against the Mets on May 29, smoked a 1-0 slider that stayed up in the middle of the zone just over the left field fence. His 10th homer of the year gave Los Angeles a 3-0 lead in the first.
