The Los Angeles Dodgers can't be ruled out for any free agent.
Los Angeles clearly has plenty of money to spend and also is creative. The Dodgers landed Shohei Ohtani to the biggest deal in baseball history but found a way to push most of the money into the future so they could afford other players as well.
The Dodgers, at least, will be mentioned with every top free agent this winter, including New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto. He will be the most sought-after free agent this winter and could even land a deal near $600 million. The New York Post's Jon Heyman unsurprisingly didn't rule Los Angeles out for him.
"The Yankees are understandably anxious to bring back Soto," Heyman said. "'They didn’t trade for Soto thinking he’d only be there for a year,' says a rival (general manager). But the GM adds, because he’s so young, 'every team can talk themselves into it.' The (New York Mets) are likely to play, and though they can outbid anyone, it isn’t easy to leave The Bronx.
"The (San Francisco Giants), (Toronto Blue Jays), and (Chicago Cubs) tried to trade for Soto, and the Dodgers and (Philadelphia Phillies) can never be ruled out. Our 13-agent poll suggested $520M, but the guess here is he cracks ($600 million) or comes close."
If the Dodgers somehow can find a way to land Soto, there's no reason that they can't win the next handful of World Series in a row.
Los Angeles already is in a great spot, but this summer could lead to even more fireworks.
