The Dodgers jumped ahead of the Angels 2-0 in their Friday night bout thanks to Shohei Ohtani's 22nd home run of the year. Those were their only runs of the night though and the Angels plated three of their own to take home a 3-2 victory.
While the loss was reminiscent of some of the frequent Ls Los Angeles took during their two-week skid where they couldn't get any offense, they've been good enough to expect a bounce-back game in Game 2 Saturday night.
Tyler Glasnow is on the bump for the Dodgers against Angels right-hander Zach Plesac. Here's what the odds at BetMGM say about Saturday's Freeway Series showdown:
Run line
Angels +1.5: +145
Dodgers -1.5: -175
Moneyline
Angels: +300
Dodgers: -400
Total
Over 8.5 runs: -110
Under 8.5 runs: -110
Prediction
The juice on that Dodgers run line is crazy and says LA should flex its muscles against its inferior Southern California rival. We're leaning that way too.
Plesac was DFA'd by the Guardians last year after only five starts, and he spent virtually all of this season in Triple-A Salt Lake for the Angels until they called him up in mid-June. In the last three years he has a 4.72 ERA in 54 starts. He has 214 strikeouts and 77 walks across 295.2 innings. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Dodgers knocked him around a little, which could mean the Angels are in for a long night.
Scoring off Glasnow hasn't been easy all season. He's boasting a 3.00 ERA with a MLB best 125 strikeouts in 93.0 innings. Combining that with an Angels offense that's averaging 3.5 runs per game in the month of June is a recipe for not a ton of offensive output from the visitors.
Dodgers 7, Angels 3
