The Chicago Cubs have been one of the more surprising teams ahead of the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline.

Chicago currently is five games out of a National League Wild Card spot and is 10 games out of the top spot in the National League Central. The Cubs made one of the most surprising moves of the summer by acquiring former Tampa Bay Rays All-Star Isaac Paredes in one blockbuster deal and it sounds like they may not be done.

The Cubs reportedly are one of six teams that have checked in with the San Francisco Giants about a possible deal for ace Blake Snell, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Cubs are one of the six or so teams to check in on Blake Snell, too, so they seem to be out of sell mode," Heyman said. "Still iffy as to whether Snell goes anywhere, though his name is clearly out there."

While it's not a guarantee that Snell will be traded, speculation has started to pick up. His name has been tossed around left and right and he could go a long way in helping the Cubs out. Chicago realistically could make a run at one of the Wild Card spots and landing someone like Snell could help with that.

Chicago clearly is looking to improve this year while also taking a look at the future. Paredes will be around for a while now and Snell has an option for the 2025 season and possibly could help out next year as well.

The Cubs already have shocked the baseball world once this week and it sounds like there's a chance another move could happen.
