The Boston Red Sox sent outfielder Tyler O'Neill back to Boston to get imaging done on Wednesday, and that has led them to make a roster move.

Before their series finale against the Baltimore Orioles, the Boston Globe's Julian McWilliams reported that the team placed O'Neill on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 26). To fill his spot they've recalled infielder Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A.

While O'Neill has led the team in home runs this season (11), he's been far from the best version of himself. In 41 games (148 at-bats), he's hit just .236 with an .843 OPS.

Boston is hoping that this time off allows him to heal and get back to the impact player that he's shown that he can be.

Since being optioned to Worcester on May 2, hasn't been great, but he's shown some pop. In 20 games (74 at-bats), he's hit .230 with six home runs and an .887 OPS.

He's also done some work at first base, potentially giving Boston more versatility in the meantime.
