With all of the injuries that the Boston Red Sox have had through the first few weeks of their 2024 campaign, they've had to add a bit of talent from outside the organization.

On Wednesday, Boston acquired infielder Zack Short for cash in a trade with the New York Mets.

Short, 28, was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 17th round in the 2017 draft but was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2020 for Cameron Maybin at the deadline.

The Mets claimed him off of waivers in November before being designated for assignment last week.

Since making his MLB debut for Detroit in 2021, Short has appeared in 187 games, hitting .172 with 13 home runs and a .570 OPS.
