On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox welcomed the Detroit Tigers to Fenway Park for the third game of their four-game series and earned a 6-3 victory, their second win in a row.
The Red Sox's offense had another solid night, scoring six total runs on 10 hits and two walks. They did strike out 10 times, which continues to be an issue for Alex Cora's squad.
Enmanuel Valdez (3-for-4) was the player of the game, hitting two home runs and driving in half of the team's runs. The other runs were brought home by Rafael Devers (1-for-4), Dominic Smith (1-for-3 with a walk) and Reese McGuire (1-for-3).
Boston starter Cooper Criswell bounced back well from his last outing (seven runs allowed against the Baltimore Orioles). He pitched five innings in this one, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk while striking out five.
Brennan Bernardino pitched two scoreless innings, benefitting from another incredible catch by center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela, which saved a run from scoring.
Brad Keller struggled a bit in his two innings, allowing a two-run home run to Gio Urshela in the ninth.
This win brings Boston to 30-29 on the season and 13-16 at Fenway. They'll have a chance to win the series on Sunday, as the two teams will meet for the final game.
