The Boston Red Sox welcomed the San Francisco Giants to Fenway Park for the first of three games on Tuesday and walked out with a 4-0 victory.

Boston's offense was putting the pressure on the Giants, as they got to Logan Webb early and forced him out of the game after 3 2/3 innings.

The team recorded 11 hits and six walks on the night with RBIs coming from Jarren Duran (3-for-4), Wilyer Abreu (3-for-4 with a triple) and Rob Refsynder (2-for-5 with two RBIs).

Unfortunately, the Red Sox did lose another player to injury, as first baseman Garrett Cooper, in his debut after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs over the weekend, was hit by a pitch in the wrist and had to be removed from the game.

That's just the story of the team's luck this season.

The good side of Boston's story through the early part of their 2024 campaign has been that their pitching continues to be exceptional despite injuries to three of their starting five pitchers. Cooper Criswell got the nod for Game 1, and he delivered five innings of two-hit, one-walk ball to give the bullpen the rest of the game with the lead.

Brennan Bernardino, Greg Weisert, Zach Kelly and Justin Slaten took it the rest of the way, combining to allow just two hits and one walk while striking out six over the last four scoreless innings.

This win gives Boston three in a row and improves their home record to 6-8 on the season. They'll have a chance to win the series on Wednesday.
