The Boston Red Sox are struggling to field a competitive team at this point, as they continue to be ravaged by injuries, and now their best player has joined the list of players dealing with something.

Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers left Saturday's battle with the Chicago White Sox due to a left knee injury, and he's already said that he won't be playing in the series finale at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sunday.

“It’s nothing serious,” Devers said (via MassLive). “It’s something that’s been bugging me since the start of the year. Today, I felt it a little more. It took me out of the game because (the game) opened up a little bit, but no, nothing’s wrong. I can play through it. That’s why I kind of asked for them to take me out of the game as a precaution because I don’t want to have it get a point (where it becomes chronic).

“It’s a long season, so we all need our rest. I’m thankful to have a manager like AC who takes care of us. I’ll be back, ready to play, at home.”

Devers missed time earlier in the season with a knee issue, so it's smart to give him some time off here and there to help the third baseman manage it.
