The Boston Red Sox hosted the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night at Fenway Park for their second of three games between the squads this week, and the home team earned an 8-6 victory.

Boston's starter Nick Pivetta didn't have his best stuff, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four over just four innings.

During that time the Red Sox had scored just one run with Jamie Westbrook bringing Rafael Devers, who tripled, home with a sacrifice fly.

Cam Booser, Zack Kelly, Brennan Bernadino, Justin Slaten and Kenley Jansen all got an inning each in relief with only Kelly and Janesn giving up a single run each.

Boston's offense exploded in the fifth for five runs, as Jarren Duran plated two (one RBI) after an infield single where his speed forced a two-run throwing error. Tyler O'Neill brought in Duran with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at four runs apiece before Enmanuel Valdez doubled to center, scoring two more.

David Hamilton, who has been hitting the ball very well recently, roped a two-run home run to right center to put Boston up 8-4.

Philadelphia scored two more runs (one in the seventh and one in the ninth), but Jansen recorded his 10th save of the season and secured Boston's victory.

The Red Sox are, once again, .500 (34-34), as the two teams will meet again on Thursday for the finale.
