Boston Red Sox reliever Brennan Bernardino finished last season with a 3.20 ERA and started off this season hot, as he posted a 0.93 ERA through his first 27 appearances.

However, in the 15 outings since then, he's gone just 11 innings, allowing 14 runs (11.40 ERA) on 22 hits and four walks while striking out 13 batters.

After his outing on Sunday against the Houston Astros where he gave up four runs, the Red Sox are reportedly optioning the reliever down to Triple-A Worcester, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.

Boston's rotation and bullpen have struggled mightily since the All-Star break, and Bernardino has been one of the worst of their worst arms.

It's unclear what the corresponding move is, but the Red Sox are hoping a trip down to Triple-A will help the lefty get back on track.
