Before Friday's series opener against the Texas Rangers, the Boston Red Sox made a couple of roster moves, optioning left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn to Triple-A Worcester and activating right-handed pitcher Luis Garcia.

Horn, 26, landed in Boston via trade back in April from the Chicago White Sox. He's appeared in nine games for the Red Sox this year, posting a 6.39 ERA (5.06 FIP) and 1.658 WHIP while striking out 10 batters in 12 2/3 innings. This will be his second stint in Triple-A since joining the organization.

Garcia, 37, was traded to Boston before the deadline from the Los Angeles Angels. This season, he appeared in 45 games for Los Angeles, recording a 3.71 ERA (3.69 FIP) and a 1.168 WHIP while striking out 40 batters in 43 2/3 innings.

It will be interesting to see how manager Alex Cora uses Garcia and Lucas Sims (his new additions to the bullpen at the deadline) as the season goes on.
