In the rubber match in the latest series of The Rivalry, the Boston Red Sox lost the series to the New York Yankees 8-2. This is the first series they have lost to their rival this season.

This game got off to another rough start, when the Yankees scored three runs in the first inning off the Red Sox ace, Tanner Houck. The Yanks scored another run in the fourth inning before the Sox scored their first in the same inning off a solo homer by Rob Refsnyder.

Connor Wong hit another homer right after, making it 4-2. After that, the Yankees ended the Sox offense, and piled on their own, making it an 8-2 final.

The Sox have a chance to get out of their post All-Star break slump, when the Seattle Mariners come to town tomorrow at 7:10pm.
