The Boston Red Sox, after losing two out of three to the Baltimore Orioles, are hosting the Detroit Tigers for a four-game series at Fenway Park starting on Thursday.

For the opener, Boston will send Nick Pivetta to the mound while Detroit will counter with Jack Flaherty.

Here's what Alex Cora's lineup will look like:

  1. Jarren Duran CF
  2. Wilyer Abreu RF
  3. Rob Refsnyder LF
  4. Rafael Devers 3B
  5. Connor Wong DH
  6. Garrett Cooper 1B
  7. Reese McGuire C
  8. Vaughn Grissom 2B
  9. David Hamilton SS

Pivetta has been all right for the Red Sox so far this season, posting a 4.20 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in his six starts. He's coming off of his worst start of the year, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over 3 1/3 innings. Only two Tigers have hits off of Pivetta in his career - Javier Baez (3-for-7 with a solo home run and a walk) and Gio Urshela (3-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs).

Flaherty has been pretty good for Detroit in 2024, recording a 3.84 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP in his 10 starts. He's allowed hits to four Red Sox - Abreu (1-for-2 with a walk), Cooper (1-for-11), Devers (1-for-2) and Wong (2-for-2 with an RBI).
