Early in the Boston Red Sox's series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre, Alex Cora's squad suffered yet another loss of a key player.

Infielder David Hamilton was removed from the game and replaced by Enmanuel Valdez. Boston later announced that Hamilton is dealing with left side discomfort.

The Red Sox brought back infielder/outfielder Romy Gonzalez from the injured list on Monday, so he'll likely help fill in until Hamilton can return to action.

Over the last 30 days, Hamilton has hit .326 with an .870 OPS, three home runs, eight RBIs and 14 stolen bases.
