The Boston Red Sox hosted the San Francisco Giants on Thursday for their final game in the three-game series, but they were unable to secure the sweep, losing the game 3-1.

Boston's pitching was fine, as Josh Winchkowski got the start, and he went 4 1/3 innings giving up one run (a solo home run) on two hits and two walks.

Brennan Bernandino, Cam Booser and Naoyuki Uwasawa (making his major-league debut) combined for four innings of scoreless, hitless work, but Zack Kelly allowed two runs on four hits in his 2/3 of an inning, which was the difference.

The Red Sox offense struggled to put anything together despite walking five times. Their one run came on a Tyler O'Neill (1-for-2 with two walks) RBI double off of the Green Monster. The only other players in the lineup who recorded hits were Rafael Devers (1-for-3), Garrett Cooper (1-for-3) and Ceddanne Rafaela (1-for-3).

Boston's winning streak ends at four games, and their record drops to 18-14 overall and 7-9 at Fenway Park. They'll travel tonight to take on the Minnesota Twins for a three-game series starting on Friday.
