With roughly a month until the MLB trade deadline, the Boston Red Sox are still deciding which direction they'll be headed after a surprisingly solid start to their year.

However, Boston might want to make up their mind quickly, as other teams are already talking and discussing deals, including on one player the Red Sox have been linked to.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Chicago White Sox rejected a recent trade proposal from the Los Angeles Dodgers for starting pitcher Garrett Crochet.

It's unclear exactly what the Dodgers offered the White Sox for Crochet's services, but Nightengale did report that Chicago has informed teams that they're "seeking young prospects with enormous upside."

The 25-year-old should be Boston's top target ahead of the trade deadline if they do decide to buy. In 90 appearances (18 starts) over his four healthy seasons, Crochet has posted a 2.89 ERA and a 1.096 WHIP.

Transitioning from the bullpen to the rotation this year, Crochet hasn't missed a beat, recording a 3.02 ERA and a 0.928 WHIP while leading the league in strikeouts in his 18 starts.

The Red Sox have the prospects to get a deal done, and with Crochet having two years of control beyond this year, he's a player that's worth the big asking price.
