After the Boston Red Sox were defeated by the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Tuesday night, they made a roster move involving two infielders.

According to the Boston Globe's Julian McWilliams, Zack Short was designated for assignment, making room for Romy Gonzalez on Boston's active roster.

The Red Sox traded for Short just a week ago, sending cash considerations to the New York Mets. He appeared in just two games for Boston, going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts.

Gonzalez was placed on the injured list with a left wrist sprain back on April 13. Prior to the injury he had appeared in two games for the Red Sox, going 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.

Gonzalez's return gives the Red Sox a bit more versatility, as he can play in the outfield and infield if needed.
