The Boston Red Sox took on the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night at Busch Stadium and were handed their third loss in a row, this time falling 10-6.
Boston's offense was solid on the night, scoring six runs on 12 hits and four walks while striking out just four times. Connor Wong had a great night, going 4-for-5 with an RBI, and Rafael Devers went 1-for-5 with a home run, his third in as many games, and two RBIs.
RBIs also came from Jarren Duran (1-for-3 with two walks) and David Hamilton (2-for-4 with a triple).
While the Red Sox's pitching staff had been impressive this year, they struggled mightily on Friday.
Starter Brayan Bello allowed five earned runs on seven hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work, and four of those runs came on home runs. Cam Booser allowed two runs in his 1 1/3 innings, both coming off of a home run. Chase Anderson gave up three runs in the last two innings.
With this loss, Boston has fallen below .500 for the first time since the first series of the season against the Seattle Mariners when they were 1-2. The team better figure out there issues, or this skid could continue for a while.
