The Boston Red Sox lost to the Houston Astros after they blew their two-run lead which increased into a four-run deficit.

David Hamilton and Nick Sogard scored some runs to make the game 3-1 early on. Starting pitcher Tanner Houck had a good start, giving up one run in six innings, and after that is when the lead started to crumble.

In the top of the seventh, newly acquired reliever Lucas Sims and reliever Zack Kelly were blown up, giving up four runs in the top of the seventh. Luis Garcia, the other newly acquired reliever, shut it down in the eighth, however in the ninth, the Sox gave up three more runs, while only scoring one more.

The Sox’s lack of offense was their kryptonite, and the bullpen pitching had an off night tonight.

The Red Sox will have a chance at redemption against the Astros tomorrow at 4:10pm EST.
