Injuries have ravaged the Boston Red Sox through the first month or so of their 2024 campaign, but things are finally starting to get better with players coming off of the injured list.

On Wednesday, the Red Sox are expected to activate starting pitcher Nick Pivetta and option reliever Naoyuki Uwasawa, according to the Boston Globe's Julian McWilliams.

Pivetta was placed on the injured list nearly a month ago with a right elbow flexor strain after his second start of the year. In those two games, he allowed just one run and struck out 13 in 11 innings.

Uwasawa was called up from Triple-A just over a week ago, and he's appeared in two games, allowing one earned run on two hits, two walks and three strikeouts over four innings. He'll return to Worcester, where he started three games earlier in the year.

Pivetta is expected to get the start on Wednesday opposite former Red Sox Chris Sale in an important matchup.
