With the trade deadline almost here, the Red Sox need to be buyers at the deadline. However, there is one player they cannot afford to lose. Here's the prospect the Sox should not part ways with:
Catcher Kyle Teel, 31st overall prospect: Teel is the best catcher from the 2023 MLB draft and the best catcher that the Red Sox have in their farm system. Teel is currently on the Double-A affiliate Portland Sea Dogs, batting .305 with nine home runs in 68 games. As the best-hitting prospect at catcher in years and a great defensive one, the Sox should keep him. They could pair him with Connor Wong as a lefty-righty platoon, and have him become the starter in time.
If he pans out, Teel could be a generational catcher for the Sox and a future Hall-of-Famer.
Kyle Teel has been raking since the beginning of May.

When you factor in defense, he's in the discussion for the best catching prospect in baseball.#DirtyWaterpic.twitter.com/kO8YCwG7ky
