The Atlanta Braves have a strong chance to make a run this postseason despite losing Ronald Acuña Jr. to a season-ending injury.
Atlanta is six games above .500 right now with a 36-30 record and likely will be buyers around the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline.
The Braves could use a new outfielder and The Athletic's Jim Bowden put together a list of a few options who could help and mentioned Tampa Bay Rays All-Star Randy Arozarena as a player who could help Atlanta out.
"Position targets: fourth outfielder, possibly a starting pitcher," Bowden said. "OF: Tommy Pham, Eddie Rosario, Gavin Sheets, Jake McCarthy, Ian Happ, Heston Kjerstad, Jesús Sánchez, Jake Fraley, Michael Conforto, Randy Arozarena, Wenceel Pérez, (and) Mike Yastrzemski...
"Yes, the Braves lost the reigning (National League Most Valuable Player), Ronald Acuña Jr., and the preseason favorite for the NL Cy Young Award, Spencer Strider, to season-ending injuries. But that's not going to stop them from making the playoffs as a Wild Card team, though they need to improve their corner outfield depth and maybe add a back-of-the-rotation starter depending on how their young starters pitch over the next seven weeks."
Arozarena has struggled so far this season but still could be a solid option. He is just 29 years old and was the 2021 American League Rookie of the Year award winner and is a one-time All-Star. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery and the Braves could make sense this summer in a major trade.
