There surely will be plenty of former members of the Atlanta Braves available this winter once free agency kicks off.
One former member of the Braves who is expected to cash in this winter certainly is star closer Kenley Jansen. He spent the 2022 season with the Braves and certainly had success. In his lone season as a member of the Braves, Jansen led the National League with 41 saves and logged a 3.38 ERA in 65 total appearances.
He is one of the best closers in baseball history and spent the last two seasons with the Boston Red Sox. Jansen, unsurprisingly, was successful with the Red Sox, although Boston didn't make the playoffs in either season. He appeared in 105 games over two seasons with Boston and had a 3.44 ERA and 56 total saves.
Jansen will be a free agent once again this winter, and it certainly seems like he's going to cash in. There has been speculation that he won't be returning to Boston -- especially with Liam Hendriks on the roster. He will be one of the most sought-after free-agent relievers, and Spotrac currently is projecting his market value to be over $72 million over four seasons.
A reunion may not make sense for the Braves at this point, but it's clear that Jansen is going to do well this winter. Hopefully, he finds an opportunity with a contender and continues to shine.
