The Atlanta Braves could look a little different in 2025.
Atlanta has one of the deepest rosters in baseball on paper. While this is the case, the 2024 season hasn't been exactly what they hoped. Injuries piled up, and yet the Braves still are in contention for a playoff spot.
The Braves should be back to being among the top contenders in the National League in 2025, but there could be some changes on the way. While this is the case, some players could end up sticking around. MLB Trade Rumors' Steve Adams predicted that the Braves will pick up superstar slugger Marcell Ozuna's club option for the 2025 season.
"Marcell Ozuna, DH, Braves: $16MM club option ($1MM buyout)," Adams said. "The 34-year-old Ozuna is in the midst of his worst month of the season, but even that means he’s merely been about league-average at the plate in September. He sports a mountainous .303/.380/.550 slash and 37 dingers on the season. It’s the best performance of his career outside the 60-game 2020 season (.338/.431/.636). Atlanta will pick this option up, even with Jorge Soler locked into the roster for two more seasons following his deadline acquisition."
Ozuna has been everything the Braves could've hoped for this season and is slashing .306/.382/.560 with 38 home runs and 100 RBIs in a league-leading 152 games played. It's a no-brainer to bring him back in 2025.
