The Atlanta Braves are still alive in their pursuit of a World Series title.
Atlanta will kick off postseason action on Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres. The Braves have dealt with so many injuries that it's surprising that they have even gotten to the point they currently are at. If the Braves can make a deep run, that would be great. But it's more likely that the Braves will contend in 2025.
Free agency is quickly approaching, and the Braves will have some tough choices to make. One player who will hit free agency is outfielder Adam Duvall. He reunited with Atlanta this season but struggled from the plate. Duvall had one of the worst offensive seasons of his career and slashed .182/.245/.323 with 11 home runs and 30 RBIs.
Maybe Duvall will bounce back in the postseason, but it's unclear if he will be back in Atlanta next season. He currently is projected to receive a deal this offseason worth $2 million. Atlanta certainly could afford a deal of that nature if it wanted to. But it's unclear if they will want to continue the partnership beyond this season.
Duvall now is 36 years old and is coming off arguably the worst season of his career. If he wants to continue his career in 2025, it wouldn't be shocking to see him land a deal of this nature or at least a minor-league contract. But it may not be with the Braves.
