Mexicans Abroad Minute: Raul Jimenez's rabona assist, Marco Fabian's minutes for Frankfurt highlight weekend

After injuries to Carlos Salcedo and Nestor Araujo against Croatia, Mexico fans needed a boost in the first weekend after the international break.

There was some good news for those fans. First off, Raul Jimenez came on as a second-half substitute for Benfica and delivered perhaps the best assist of the season, using a rabona to find Jonas in the box for his second goal of the game in a 2-0 victory over Vitoria.

That result, combined with Porto's defeat Monday against Belenenses, put Benfica at the top of the table. Hector Herrera played for Porto after missing both Mexico friendly matches with an injury, but Diego Reyes stayed on the bench and Jesus Corona didn't travel after they both picked up injuries with El Tri. Before Monday's match, Porto manager Sergio Conceicao expressed his frustration with national teams, saying he sent Mexico three healthy players and all three came back affected by injury of some kind.

Marco Fabian played 51 minutes of Eintacht Frankfurt's defeat to Werder Bremen, his longest stretch of play at the club level since returning from his long-term back injury.

In Spain, Andres Guardado turned in a solid 90-minute showing for Real Betis in a 1-0 victory over Getafe. Miguel Layun, who is cap-tied to Porto and can't play for Sevilla in the Champions League, played the second half of the club's 2-2 weekend draw with Barcelona. Hector Moreno was on the bench for Real Sociedad in a scoreless draw with Eibar.

Chicharito was not in the team for West Ham after he played for El Tri in the match against Croatia. Hirving Lozano didn't get in on the scoring action but played every minute of PSV's 5-1 thrashing of NAC Breda.
