For the second time in the Matias Almeyda era, Chivas are the Copa MX champions, beating Morelia 3-1 in a penalty shootout to lift the prize.

After 90 minutes of scoreless action between the two teams, the match went directly to a shootout, as dictated in the competition rules.
The shootout started well for the visitors, with goalkeeper Sebastian Sosa diving to his left to stop the opening kick from Chivas captain Carlos Salcido.
But the teams were level again after Jorge Zarate's shot was saved by Chivas goalkeeper Miguel Jimenez and Alan Pulido, who had hobbled through the closing portion of regular time, put his shot past Sosa. And it was a second save by Jimenez moments later, leaping to his left and using his left hand to knock down an attempt from David Cabrera.
After Orbelin Pineda put his shot past a wrong-footed Sosa, Jimenez again came up big, with Luis Gabriel Rey failing to keep his side alive.
Chivas will now participate in the Supercopa against Copa MX Apertura champion Queretaro for what previously was a spot in the Copa Libertadores but has become less prestigious with Mexican sides currently not taking part in the South American club championship. Chivas are the reigning Supercopa champions.
