Marcos Rojo is targeting a Champions League comeback with Manchester United against CSKA Moscow on December 5.
Rojo has not featured for United this season due to a knee ligament injury sustained in April, having become a regular in Jose Mourinho's side before the setback.
United 12/1 to win CL with dabblebet
United only need a point from their next European fixture against Basel to be sure of a place in the knockout stages, and Rojo hopes he can return to the first team once progression to last 16 has been sealed.
"[On Wednesday] I am going to play with the reserves in a friendly match," Rojo told TyC Sports. "I feel good. Up until now, I have not had any problems but training is not the same as a match.
"In three weeks we have a Champions League game and if all goes well tomorrow, I could play in that."
Rojo's motivation to force his way back into Mourinho's plans is heightened by the desire to catch the eye of Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli ahead of next year's World Cup in Russia.
"I have to win my place back in the team so that Jorge Sampaoli considers me for the World Cup," he added.
"I have been out a while but I am determined to get back into the national team. I want to show Sampaoli how good I am."
