Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has arrived in Zagreb amid reports he is looking to push through a deal for Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic.

The 28-year-old is likely to leave Inter this summer if they don’t qualify for a Champions League spot, and the Nerazzurri currently sit in fifth position a full eight points adrift of the third place they would need to achieve to reach the play-off round in Europe.

And, as confirmed by 24sata, Mourinho landed in the Croatian capital at 11:15am on Friday as United ponder a deal to take Perisic from his former club.

The Sun has reported that the United boss is hoping to push through a deal worth as much as £35 million for Perisic, who has 55 international caps, with the need to add fresh stocks to their midfield believed to be one of Mourinho’s priorities this summer.

Croatia face Ukraine on Friday night in a World Cup qualifier at the Stadio Maksimir, but Perisic is suspended for the fixture having been sent off in injury time of the 2-0 win over Iceland in November.

And, while the Croatian Football Federation has confirmed to Goal that Mourinho has not been accredited for the game through their channels, Perisic could be free to meet the United boss due to his unavailability for the fixture.

Perisic is expected to return to the Croatia side for Tuesday’s friendly against Estonia in Tallinn ahead of his return to club duty with Inter.

An accomplished winger, Perisic arrived at San Siro in 2015 from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg after spells with Sochaux, Club Brugge and Borussia Dortmund.
