Man City Team News: Injuries, suspensions and line-up vs Huddersfield image

Pep Guardiola will field another strong Manchester City side against Huddersfield on Sunday, as they prepare to lift the Premier League title.

But while there will not be any wholesale changes, there will be a couple of changes that could wreak havoc in a fantasy football double gameweek.

Man City injuries

Sergio Aguero is definitely out with a knee injury.

Vincent Kompany missed last Sunday's win at West Ham with a "medical issue", though Guardiola says he will be ready for Sunday. Kyle Walker was substituted early last weekend but he has trained in the past couple of days.

John Stones is also in contention, having missed a number of recent matches.

Benjamin Mendy is stepping up his recovery from a long-term knee injury and is very unlikely to start both games.

The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.

Man City suspensions

City have no suspensions for Sunday's game, and neither do Huddersfield.

Man City potential starting XI

David Silva also missed the West Ham game but that was due to personal reasons and he will be available for the coming games, not least on Sunday when he will be able to lift the trophy with his team-mates.

The worry for fantasy football players is whether Guardiola will rest players like Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling in the next two matches. Sane sat out the Swansea game a fortnight ago but returned against West Ham, so it seems there is a decent chance of him starting at least one of the next two games, most likely both.

De Bruyne, unlike David Silva, has played both of the last two matches, and so has Sterling. Ordinarily both would start, especially with Guardiola picking strong teams, but the Catalan is not above making a surprise call.

Huddersfield team news

Huddersfield have a number of injuries to contend with as they begin a crucial run of games against City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Thomas Ince (hamstring) is a doubt after missing last weekend's game with Everton.

Michael Hefele, Elias Kachunga and Danny Williams are out for the season.

Opta match facts

  • Man City haven’t won a home league meeting with Huddersfield since November 1987 (D1 L2), though this is the first such meeting since 1999. That victory in 1987 was 10-1 – to date the last time a side scored at least 10 goals in an English league match.
  • Manchester City have scored 102 Premier League goals this season, one short of Chelsea’s record in the competition (103 in 2009-10). The last team to score than 103 in a top-flight campaign was Tottenham in 1962-63 (111).
  • Pep Guardiola’s side have already won 30 Premier League games this season, and victory here would equal the all-time top-flight record for most wins in a single campaign (31, Tottenham in 1960-61).
  • Victory would also set a new record for highest number of points in a single top-flight season in England (96, currently 95 by Chelsea in 2004-05). When converting to three points for a win, only Liverpool (98 in 1978-79) and Tottenham (97 in 1960-61) have reached this many.

  • The Citizens have won 13 Premier League games by a margin of three or more goals this season – only two sides in top-flight history have won more in a single campaign; West Brom (16 in 1919-20) and Arsenal (14 in 1930-31).

  • Man City have become only the fifth side to have had four different players score 10+ goals in a single Premier League campaign - Man Utd in 1995-96, Chelsea in 2009-10 & 2010-11 and Arsenal in 2012-13. No team has ever had five players reach double figures in the competition. David Silva can become the fifth with one more goal.

  • Raheem Sterling has scored 49 Premier League goals in his career – one more would make him the 11th player to reach 50 while under the age of 24 in the competition.
