Manchester City taunted rivals Manchester United after they defeated Tottenham 4-1 on Saturday with "park the bus" chants.

Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne gave them the platform for success, while a late double from Raheem Sterling added gloss to City’s 17th win from 18 Premier League matches this season.

Six days previous, they had scored an important success over the Red Devils at Old Trafford in a top-of-the-table derby.

Their post-match celebrations, however, were curbed on that occasion by a dressing room spat with United manager Jose Mourinho , which ended up with milk being thrown at City coach Mikel Arteta.

Tensions are up between the two clubs, and City were happy to take another dig at their rivals following their home win against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, which pushed them 14 points clear at the summit of the standings.

Chants of “park the bus, Man Utd” could be heard as City players celebrated their weekend victory, with Benjamin Mendy, still out with a long-term knee injury, filming the scenes, which were later uploaded to a friend's Instagram account.

Jose Mourinho, who has become infamous for his defensive philosophy against other top teams, will have the opportunity for his side to respond on Sunday, when they face West Brom away from home.
