The Catalan coach penned a three-year deal at the Etihad Stadium upon his appointment as Manuel Pellegrini’s successor in 2016.

His first season in England saw him finish empty-handed, for the first time in his distinguished managerial career, but an elaborate summer rebuild is intended to right those wrongs in 2017-18.
City have spent big during the current transfer window, bringing in the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker, Danilo and Benjamin Mendy, and Guardiola hopes to be around long enough to see his project deliver tangible reward.
The 46-year-old told reporters on his future plans: "I will try to remain as long as possible to help, to help City keep moving forward and stay high.
Pep: Madrid weren't bad, we were good
"I think the club has to work and listen to the manager in the right moment, but also take their own decisions in the future.
“Nobody knows what will happen. For all the managers in the world it depends on the results."
Regardless of how long he remains in his current post, Guardiola believes that those players he has brought onto the club’s books will prove to be shrewd investments over a prolonged period of time.
He added: "They are really good players. Good enough that it doesn't matter who the manager will be. For Manchester City that is the most important thing.
"The new players have come in and we know the kind of energy they have to give us a really good chance to fight for the titles. We were not good enough and we haven't changed for the short period.
Guardiola seeks consistent KDB
"Bernardo Silva is 23-24 years old. Ederson is 23-24 years old.
"All the players' averages are so, so young, so for the next five, six or seven years they will be here. And as soon as possible we want to be involved in the title."
City ended the 2016-17 Premier League campaign in third place, 15 points adrift of champions Chelsea.
They will open the upcoming season away at newly-promoted Brighton on August 12.
