The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) revealed on Tuesday that they are still waiting for North Korea's response regarding the neutral venue for their clash against Malaysia.
Malaysia are set to face North Korea on June 8th in their 2019 Asia Cup qualification match on a neutral ground after the recent political dispute between the two countries.
However, with North Korea yet to suggest a venue for the game, AFC may take action and will name the venue itself.
Datuk Windsor Paul, AFC’s secretary-genera saidl: “I have mentioned this before, that North Korea will have until April 14th to give us the venue for the game.”
“If they failed to do so, we ourselves will choose the venue for the qualifying game,”
Paul also added that the AFC will continue observing the diplomatic relations between the two countries before making a decision regarding the venue.
The match was originally scheduled for March 28, but was postponed due to the conflict between the two countries, involving the murder of a North Korean man believed to be the North Korean President Kim Jong-un's estranged half-brother in Malaysia.
The Malaysian government then barred the Harimau Malaya from travelling to North Korea for the match (the initial date) for security reasons.
