The Perak FA (PAFA) today announced the appointment of former Perak and Malaysia midfielder Ahmad Shahrul Azhar Sofian as the manager of the Perak Super League team.

Apart from the manager post, Shahrul, who prior to this had been an assistant coach at Felda United, has also been appointed as the PAFA honorary secretary.

According to a press statement by PAFA, Shahrul has replaced Dato' Jamal Aris who had vacated the post in May.

Shahrul had played for Perak in two stints; from 1996 to 1997, and from 2000 to 2008, before finishing his playing career with the now defunct Proton FC in 2009.

He had earlier held the post of assistant manager of the Bos Gaurus, back in 2013.
