Liverpool vs Brighton: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview image

Liverpool will host Brighton on Sunday knowing they need just a point to secure a spot in the Champions League next season. A draw will be enough to see off fifth-placed Chelsea for the final place after Tottenham won over Newcastle in midweek.

The fixture will also be another chance for Mohamed Salah to make another landmark for the Reds. If he is to net against Chris Hughton's side, he will break the record for scoring the most goals in a 38-game season – surpassing the likes of Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez who are all currently on 31.

Jurgen Klopp will likely field a full-strength team for his final Premier League fixture as he seeks to confirm a spot in the Champions League next season – with plenty of time to prepare for the final against Real Madrid on May 26.

Brighton sit comfortably in 14th place with 40 points and will not be looking to replicate the 5-1 hammering at the Amex Stadium when they hosted the Reds earlier in the season.

Jurgen Klopp Liverpool

If Liverpool are to lose against Brighton and Chelsea to win against Newcastle, their only hopes of playing in the Champions League next season would be to win the final against Real Madrid.

Liverpool's domestic form has stagnated of late due to their European commitments – winning just one of their last four Premier League fixtures. Salah has also failed to score in his last two games, and though he leads the award for the Golden Boot with 31 goals, Harry Kane could bag a hat-trick in the final against Leicester to equal the Egyptian's tally.

Kane did just that when he scored four at the King Power Stadium against the same opponents last season.

Though Klopp knows the weight of a Champions League trophy, he underlined the massive importance of Sunday's fixture and likened it to another final.

The Reds had several chances to secure playing in the top level of European football next season but played out disappointing results against struggling Stoke and West Brom while tasting recent defeat to Chelsea.

"Champions League qualification, so we are in the competition next year, that was the target from the first day," Klopp told reporters.

"If someone said to me before we started that on the last day of the season you will have it in your own hands, I would have said 'okay, I will take that'.

"It would have been possible to have done it a bit earlier but for different reasons. One of the reasons is being in the Champions League itself. We have to play this game and that's absolutely okay. It is a very positive situation."
