Lazar Markovic’s season-long loan to Sporting Lisbon from Liverpool has been mutually terminated with the winger joining Hull City until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old failed to make an impression in Portugal, being afforded just 608 minutes in total since his summer switch.
Henderson still playing with pain
And he will now aim to resurrect his career in the Premier League, with the struggling Tigers hoping he will be able to elevate his own game and theirs during the rest of the campaign.
Markovic, signed by the Reds for £20 million in July 2014, has never managed to meet the expectations of the ‘wonderkid’ label once assigned to him.
He has only featured 34 times for Liverpool - all the appearances coming in 2014-15 - scoring three goals.
The Serbia international spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce, where he was troubled by a hamstring injury in another miserable spell.
And with a third temporary deal in succession, Markovic has to make a mark and rekindle the form that saw him dazzle for Partizan and Benfica before his blockbuster transfer to Anfield.
