Liverpool have to record a third successive away victory when they line up against Watford on Monday night to reinforce their push for Champions League football.
’Barca & Real would find PL hard’
The 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield last time out has given Jurgen Klopp's side little room for error as both Manchester teams and Arsenal try to overhaul them.
"I think when we met here months ago at the beginning of the season, when we were first or second in the table and all that stuff, I said the only thing we can do is to be in the battle for the interesting positions at the end of the season," the Reds boss said at Melwood on Friday.
"The end of the season is now, of course, it is the last month of the season and we are in the battle. So what else do we want?
"Yes, it would be nice if we had 10 points more and fight with Chelsea for the title, but that’s not for us obviously in this moment.
"So we have to fight for what we can fight for and that’s a Champions League place. That’s really, really interesting, to be honest.
Lovren signs new Liverpool deal
"In this moment, three or four days before the game, it is only positive, there's nothing else.
"Will there come pressure? Yeah, of course, on Monday before the game, nobody will feel like it is a friendly game, it's a very important game."
LIVERPOOL INJURIES
Captain Jordan Henderson is still unavailable due to a foot problem, but Adam Lallana is in contention for selection at Vicarage Road.
The 28-year-old is back in team training having shaken off a thigh injury, with Daniel Sturridge also returning from a hip complaint to do a full workout with the group.
“Adam is back in team training today for the first time, which is very, very good news," Klopp explained at Melwood.
"Hendo is not on the pitch so far and there’s nothing new to say about [him].
Klopp reveals dream Liverpool signings
"Daniel is in team training again today too, and that’s good.
“Now we have to train with the boys to see how they are, what shape they are in and then see what we can do with them.”
LIVERPOOL SUSPENSIONS
Neither side have any suspension concerns to contend with.
LIVERPOOL POTENTIAL STARTING LINE-UP
Lallana is expected to slot straight back into the starting XI, while Sturridge should make the bench if neither pick up any new knocks heading into Monday's clash.
Lucas could make way for the midfielder, with Emre Can operating as the No.6.
WATFORD TEAM NEWS
Walter Mazzarri has no fresh injury setbacks to worry about and will do late fitness checks on Valon Behrami and Craig Cathcart.
The former had missed a month of action, but has been named in the last two squads and has trained well.
Cathcart, however, is struggling with a knee problem.
“It doesn’t look so good,” Mazzarri admitted.
Younes Kaboul (hamstring) along with Roberto Pereyra and Mauro Zárate (both knee) are long-term absentees.
Klopp expects an obstructive approach from Watford, which will limit Liverpool's attempts in front of goal. "We will not get 20 opportunities there. We have to defend seriously and then make sure we take our chances when we get it."
