Liverpool’s seven-goal showing against Maribor in the Champions League saw them record two firsts for Premier League clubs.
The Reds entered their latest European outing in need of inspiration from somewhere, having found victories hard to come by at home and abroad.
9/2 over 2.5 goals in Spurs v Liverpool first half
Roberto Firmino handed them the perfect start inside four minutes on Slovenian soil.
Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah also got in on the act before half-time, with the latter bagging a brace to help Jurgen Klopp’s side to their own piece of history when it comes to English teams on the continent.
4 - This is only the 7th occasion that an English club have scored four first half goals in a Champions League game. Thrashing.

With Maribor’s resistance well and truly broken, Liverpool were able to relax knowing that a first three-point haul of the season in Champions League competition was on the way.
There was, however, to be no taking their foot off the gas, with Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold wrapping up a thumping success.
7 - Maribor 0-7 Liverpool is the biggest margin of victory for an English club away from home in the European Cup/Champions League. Heaven.

Klopp will be hoping that a convincing victory provides the spark to reignite a faltering season on Merseyside, with the Reds needing to carry momentum back into their domestic outings.
For now, though, they can bask in the warm glow of a stunning victory on the road.
Bettering their record will take some doing by Premier League sides in the future, with it rare to have things so much your own way in Europe – particularly away from home.
