“We will conquer the ball. Yeah? Each f***ing time. We will chase the ball. We will run more, we will fight more.”

Liverpool may still be a work in progress, but 500 days after Jurgen Klopp’s appointment and the outline of his vision for the club, their construction is distinctly in keeping with the manager’s framework.

No team has managed to outscore the Reds in the Premier League since the German took charge, nor have they been matched for top-flight tackles.

The Merseysiders have covered the most distance (6354.93 km) in the division under the 49-year-old and have also made the most sprints.

Liverpool top the table for goals scored from outside the box (20) and for average possession (60.13%).

Only Tottenham have managed more shots on target, while Arsenal are the only side above them for passes completed.

Klopp is the first to admit there is ample room for advancement though, with the Reds boss reinforcing his demands on the squad during a warm-weather camp in La Manga.

Liverpool are looking to end the season in the assertive, exhilarating way they kicked off 2016-17 with the determination to secure Champions League football.

Should they realise that aim, it would represent only the second time in eight campaigns that the club would have finished in the top four.

It would provide Klopp - in his first full season in charge - with a robust platform to continue propelling Liverpool towards success.
