There's no room here for scoreless draws. There was a scare a few weeks ago when there were four in a round but Liga MX is back to its scoring ways. Each match played this weekend featured at least one goal while eight of the nine had at least two.

That gave us plenty to choose from as Goal looked to crown its best strike of the weekend. Alexis Canelo and Dieter Villalpando earned honorable mention, but below are the three very finest goals from the Liga MX weekend:

3. Andre-Pierre Gignac (Tigres) - 1-0 vs. America

This goal, which helped Tigres to a 1-1 draw with Club America on Saturday, won't go on Andre-Pierre Gignac's career highlight reel. The Frenchman certainly has scored more impressive goals from an aesthetic standpoint and more important ones from a competitive perspective. Still, this flying header is a pretty nice goal.

Realizing he's been left alone at the top of the box - something defenders never should let happen with Gignac - the Tigres forward makes a late run into the box. He easily beats Paul Aguilar to Luis "Chaka" Rodriguez's hanging cross and puts away the opening goal of the match. Aguilar can only shrug, while Gignac is off to celebrate his third goal of the season.

2. Djaniny (Santos Laguna) - 2-0 vs. Chivas

Djaniny extended both Santos Laguna's lead over Chivas in Saturday's nightcap with this goal but also his own lead atop the scoring charts. This goal, scored with his first touch, is his seventh of the season putting him two ahead of America's Henry Martin.

Jose Abella sends this ball forward, and it probably should've been cleared out. Instead, Djaniny is rewarded for his run to get behind the center backs and uses one touch from his raised left leg to make a tough finish. How many times do we see chances like these end without finding the back of the net? It happens often, but the Cape Verde international made his mark this weekend.

1. Julian Quinones (Lobos BUAP) - 2-1, 3-1 vs. Atlas

 

We try not to make a habit of putting two goals in one section. It was relevant on this occasion, though, to point out how similar these goals from Lobos BUAP forward Julian Quinones were. The first, coming from the run of play, saw the forward try to win a ball just outside the box. He failed but his attempts were rewarded shortly after when his teammates recovered and found him outside the box. The Colombian settled with his left foot and guided the ball in with his right from around 25 yards away.

What did Atlas do to stop him from doing the exact same thing after Lobos won a free kick in roughly the same area? Nothing. Quinones punished them again and closed out the night with a second goal that has earned him Goal's Liga MX Goal of the Week prize.
