Indian National Football Team goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu started as his club Stabaek FC defeated Holmlia 9-0 away in the first round of the NM Cupen (Norway's domestic cup) on Wednesday, 26th April 2017.
Sindre Mauritzbergs-Hansen (23', 44', 90'), Ohi Omoijuanfo (36', 52'), Moussa Njie (47'), Avtogol (48', 73') and former Manchester City forward Alex Tchuimeni-Nimley (75) notched the goals for the Norwegian Tippeligaen side.
Though Holmlia play in the Norwegian fourth division, Gurpreet started the game confidently and maintained a cleansheet, which should do wonders to his belief.
Gurpreet had become the first Indian to appear in a Europa League tie when Stabaek participated in a Europa League qualifier against Welsh side Connah’s Quay Nomads FC last year.
The 6'4" custodian expressed his happiness with the result with a tweet on social media.
