I-League 2017: Churchill Brothers vs Shillong Lajong Preview - Red Machines aim to stretch winning streak image

Goan side Churchill Brothers host Thangboi Singto and company on 12th March, Sunday, in the 14th round of the I-League. The Red Machine fly back home following an important 1-2 victory against Kolkata giants East Bengal at the Barasat Stadium.

Churchill Brothers are on a merry ride of results after having gotten the better of both Kolkata oppositions, in successive ties. Full of confidence after a change in coach, Churchill have regained their form since the defeat against new entrants Minerva Punjab in the nine-goal thriller.

The pacy duo of Ansumana Kromah and Anthony Wolfe, who have been in sublime form, have started banging in the goals now. The two attackers scored a goal each, against The Reds and Golds and will continue to trouble Shillong Lajong's defensive forces on the weekend.

East Bengal and Mohun Bagan share spoils

Medios Brandon Fernandes and Chesterpoul Lyngdoh will be the creative forces behind the Churchill attack. Derrick Pereira's previous week was memorable with the victories over the heavyweights - Mohun Bagan and East Bengal - and the gaffer will look to stretch the winning streak in Sunday's encounter.

As for the visitors, they travel to Goa after a comfortable victory against Chandigarh-based outfit Minerva Punjab. Lajong clinched all three points as a wasteful Minerva failed to capitalise on their chances and lost their second game on the trot.

Shillong Lajong have had a below par record in away ties. They have won only twice and drawn once in their six away games so far. The gaffer will most likely introduce Fabio Pena up front, operating as the lone striker. The Brazilian will receive the support of Bipin Singh, Aser Dipanda and Samuel Lalmuanpuia in the attack. Nim Dorjee and Chinglensana Singh will feature at the heart of the defence.

Both squads are believed to have no new injury concerns as all players are available for selection.

A win for both sides will keep them on the same spot but will definitely boost their morale for the longer run.
