The Breeders' Cup, horse racing's final major event of the year, is set to begin Friday, Nov. 4 with the Juvenile Turf Sprint and continue into Saturday. The event includes 14 races, including nine on Saturday leading up to the Breeders' Cup Classic.

After the races were held in California last year, the 2022 Breeders' Cup will be held at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky.

The 14 races will award a total of $31 million in prize money, headlined by the $6 million available in the Breeders' Cup Classic. The Longines Turf, which starts one hour before the Classic, will have the second-largest purse at $4 million.

When is the Breeders' Cup Classic?

  • Date: Saturday, Nov. 5
  • Post time: 5:40 p.m. ET

Championship Saturday begins on Saturday, Nov. 5. There will be a total of 9 races on Saturday with the first race of the day, the Filly & Mare Sprint, starting at 11:50 a.m. ET.

All of the races lead up to the final race at 5:40 p.m. ET, known as the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic.

How to watch the Breeders' Cup

  • TV channels: NBC, USA Network
  • Live stream: NBCSports.com, Peacock, fuboTV

Coverage begins Friday on USA Network from 2 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. ET.

Coverage on Saturday begins at 1 p.m. ET and runs through 3:30 p.m. ET on USA Network. Then, starting at 3:30 p.m. ET, NBC will take over the coverage for the final races of the day. NBC's streaming service, Peacock, will also begin coverage at 3:30 p.m. ET.

USA and NBA can also be streamed on fuboTV, which offers a free trial.

Breeders' Cup purse

This year's Breeders' Cup has a $31 million purse for the races held on Friday and Saturday. The winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday evening will take home the biggest grand prize of $6 million.

Five races on Friday and nine races on Saturday give out prize money. All 14 races offer at least $1 million in prize money.

Breeders' Cup Classic post positions and odds

Flightline is the clear early favorite for the Breeders' Cup Classic with 3-5 odds.

Epicenter (5-1), Life Is Good (6-1), and Taiba (8-1) have the best odds behind Flightline. Rich Strike, which won the Kentucky Derby in May with 80-1 odds, has fairly distant odds at 20-1. Here are the full odds for the horses racing in the Longines Classic.
