Harry Kane became the seventh English player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League in Tuesday's encounter with APOEL Nicosia.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored all his side's goals in their victory in Cyprus, netting with each foot and a header.

The 24-year-old has now achieved the same feat as compatriots Andrew Cole, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, Danny Welbeck and Mike Newell.

It is his sixth hat-trick in 2017, taking his tally for the calendar year up to 34 from 30 games for Spurs.

After enduring another goalless August, last season's Premier League top scorer has been in great form in September, scoring 11 goals for club and country in six appearances.
