Harry Kane will be ready to shine for England at this summer's World Cup, says Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Kane, 24, was on target as Spurs boosted their chances of a top-four Premier League finish with a 2-0 victory over Watford on Monday.

The England star was watched from the stands by England boss Gareth Southgate as the World Cup draws closer.

And Pochettino is backing Kane - who recently returned from an ankle injury - to arrive at the tournament in superb condition as England look to impress in Russia.

When asked about Kane after his side's victory over Watford, Pochettino said: “He needs to improve his performances but we are still happy.

“It’s a mixture of different things. It wasn’t a great period for him in the last few weeks, he is human like anyone and has been a little bit affected.

“But with the help of everyone, he is doing well. He is a strong guy, physically and mentally.

“I am sure he will perform for us, and no doubt arrive in very good condition for the World Cup.”

Kane has scored three goals in his last four league games since returning from the ankle problem he sustained against Bournemouth in March.

The forward is currently on 27 league goals for the season, four behind Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, in the race for the golden boot award.

Kane has won the golden boot in the previous two top-flight campaigns.
