Gor Mahia goalkeeper Jerim Onyango has finally retired from active football.
Onyango, who is popularly referred to as 'Jagoal’, has decided to hang gloves after an illustrious career which included winning Kenyan Premier League crown after going unbeaten with K'Ogalo in 2015.
Onyango joined Gor Mahia from KRA in 2008, replacing Jacktone Odhiambo, who quit to join Ulinzi Stars. Gor Mahia official Ronald Ngala has praised the shot stopper and promised that the club will get him another role to play within the team’s set up.
"For Jerim (Onyango) its clear that he will not be part of the playing unit, we are looking at a role to give him...the role has to be flexible as he will be busy with his campaigns. We are looking at him being the team's U-18 coach," Ngala explained to Goal.
Onyango enjoyed nine seasons at Gor Mahia and was beaten to the position by Boniface Oluoch, who was signed from Tusker. Onyango has openly declared that he will contest for the MCA seat in his home area of Ugunja, Ugenya Constituency, during the 2017general elections.
