An up-and-down second round at Torrey Pines for Tiger Woods ended with him posting a 2-under 70, the same score as Thursday, to move to 4-under overall in the Farmers Insurance Open.
Woods started the round with a birdie and was 2-under through his first eight holes before a double bogey set him back. He was able to recover, but the 18th hole — Woods started his round from the back nine — mishap didn't allow him to gain much ground on the competition.
It looks like Woods is on the right side of the projected cut, but at the time his round concluded he was nine strokes back of the lead.

Hole 9: Par 5, 556 yards
Tough finish to the round for Woods, who misses the birdie and settles for a par. He ends Friday nine strokes behind the leader, Justin Rose.
Hole 8: Par 3, 214 yards
Woods pars the hole. He landed on the green with the first shot but missed his birdie putt.
Hole 7: Par 4, 322 yards
Woods drives past the green on the final par four — the shortest one on the course — and is situated in the bunker. He ends up being a 15-foot putt from birdie, but the shot just misses and it's another par.
Hole 6: Par 4, 416 yards
More troubles for Woods on the medium-length par four. The drive goes into the rough and then the second shot rolls past the green. An unlucky chip bounces off the side of the hole and it's another par.

Hole 5: Par 5, 525 yards
Early opportunity for an eagle putt is wasted as a long drive is followed by an approach shot that rolls past the green. Woods is forced to settle for a par after the birdie putt just misses.
Hole 4: Par 4, 479 yards
Woods is starting to get into a groove. After an approach shot to the left of the green, he chips in for birdie, his second straight.

Hole 2: Par 4, 495 yards
The 10-foot birdie putt rolls long and Woods settles for a par. With seven holes left, he will need to make up some strokes to ensure he is on the right side of the cut line.
Hole 1: Par 4, 421 yards
Looked like some more trouble for Woods after a drive into the trees, but he escapes and saves par.
Hole 18: Par 4, 486 yards
Woods gets into some trouble prior to making the turn. A strong drive is immediately followed by an approach shot to the left that falls in the bunker. A tough lie gets him out of the bunker but not on the green, and then a chip sets him up with a medium-length bogey putt. The bogey attempt misses and it's a disappointing double bogey for Woods to finish even par on the front nine.

After a straight drive on hole 16, Woods follows it up with a tee shot that veers way to the right, putting him in early trouble. He manages to make his way safely back onto the fairway, gets on the green in shots, and hits a much-needed birdie putt!

Hole 16: Par 4, 393 yards
Up-and-down for par. That's now six straight pars for Woods, who remains eight strokes behind Rahm for the lead and is likely hovering right around the cut line.
Hole 15: Par 3, 202 yards
Ball was sitting about 20 feet from the cup on the tee shot, but after the birdie putt goes astray, Woods saves par.
Hole 14: Par 4, 451 yards
Less than ideal beginning to the hole puts Woods on the fringe for his third shot, but he putts it close enough to get a routine par.
Hole 13: Par 4, 459 yards
A drive into the rough followed by an approach shot on the green put Woods within striking distance of his second birdie of the round, but the putt lipped and he's forced to settle for a par.
Hole 12: Par 3, 203 yards
Another green hit, but the roughly 30-foot birdie putt nearly misses. Second consecutive par for Woods.
Hole 11: Par 4, 339 yards
Woods is on in two shots on the short par four, but the birdie putt goes left and he pars the hole.
Hole 10: Par 5, 546 yards
Woods will be starting from hole 10 on the north course today. He rolls his second shot just past the green, but is still in position to two-putt for birdie. The eagle putt has the distance but not the accuracy, leading to an easy birdie.
