PGA Tour Championship leaderboard: Paul Casey holds 2-shot lead after Round 3 image

The PGA Tour Playoffs finish this weekend with the PGA Tour Championship  at East Lake. The top five players in FedExCup points  are: Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Marc Leishman and Jon Rahm.

If any of those top five win manage to the Playoff finale, they are mathematically guaranteed a FedExCup victory. A FedExCup win also comes with a $10 million bonus. For Spieth, this would be his second FedExCup victory in three years.

Spieth would also become the second golfer to win the FedExCup more than once after Tiger Woods won in 2007 and 2009. However with the depth in the field and tight competition, we could see the trophies split. One golfer could win the Tour Championship, but another could win the FedExCup.

This hasn't happened since 2009 when Tiger Woods won the FedExCup and Phil Mickelson won the Tour Championship. It would be a lot less-awkward if the trophies split in 2017 between the likely 24-year-old duo of Spieth and Thomas.

Paul Casey holds onto the lead at 12-under with 18 holes left to play. Xander Schauffele and Kevin Kisner are chasing Casey, each two shots back.

However, eight of the last 10 FedExCup champions of this event did not make it back to East Lake this year.

PGA Tour Championship: Updates, highlights

Follow along below with Round 3 updates from the Tour Championship at East Lake:

18 holes left to decide a PGA Tour Champion and FedExCup winner.

The leaderboard after Round 3:

1. Casey, -12
T2. Kisner, -10
T2. Schauffele
T3. Koepka, -7
T3. Reed
T3. Thomas
T6. Day, -6
T6. Rahm

Casey is on a roll. Longest putt he's made so far.

Spieth finishes his third round at 4-under. He's seven strokes back from the leader, Paul Casey at -11.

Everytime you look at the leaderboard you'll probably see some changes...

Spieth is still fighting his way through Round 3

$10 million on the line, you do what you have to.

Now there are five players tied for the lead.

Simpson birdies his second hole and takes a 1-stroke lead. Probably going to see a lot more leaderboard changes as the afternoon goes on.

Day, Simpson, Thomas and Casey are all 7-under.

Jason Day catches a share of the lead with three straight birdies.

Koepka moves within one shot of the lead with this birdie.

Spieth saves par on the first hole with this up and down.

Matsuyama is 3-over at the Tour Championship. After a strong season, he has struggled in the FedExCup Playoffs missing the cut, tied for 23rd and tied for 47th.

It's Moving Day at East Lake.
