LIV, laugh, love golf once again.

LIVE: Follow updates, highlights from Round 1 of LIV Golf Mexico

LIV Golf succeeded in a few different ways in 2022. They got through their inaugural, eight-tournament season by winning over new fans — and new players — with their high-octane, party-like events throughout the year.

The upstart golf league pilfered some of the PGA Tour's best last year, including Cameron Smith and eventual 2022 LIV Golf champion Dustin Johnson. That momentum has carried them into 2023, where they boast a much deeper roster than when the tour's inaugural season began. Mito Pereira is one of the latest to join their ranks, which already includes Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and others.

Now, live on TV, LIV Golf is back on Friday from Mexico. Johnson sets out to defend his LIV Golf title against the field when they head to Mayakoba, Mexico, for the first event of the 2023 LIV Golf League season. With an expanded, 14-tournament calendar, there's sure to be enough action and drama — and controversy — for those who seek it.
